Richard E. Ford (b. 1933) received a B.S. (1956) from Iowa State University and an M.S. (1959) and Ph. D (1961) from Cornell University. At Iowa State he was a graduate student in plant pathology (1956-1959) and at Cornell, was a research assistant in plant virology (1959-1961).
